Company History:
Our
founder, Bob Kager emigrated to the United States in 1958. A master machinist,
he found ready employment setting up and running Swiss automatic screw
machines. In 1967, in Bay Shore, Long Island, New York, he started Kager
Industries in his two-car garage. By providing his customers with quality
custom made parts in a timely manner and at reasonable cost, the company
quickly outgrew its space and moved to a leased facility in nearby Deer
Park. With the entire family participating in running the day-to-day operations,
the company continued to expand quickly. After relocating to a larger
2,500 square foot facility in Deer Park in 1969, Bob's son, Alfred (Al)
graduated from high school and took on a more active role with the company,
learning to set up the machinery, train employees and actively help manage
the company's sales and growth.
In 1982, the company relocated to the hill country town of Fredericksburg
in Texas. For the next two years, Bob and Al expanded the company into
its own 9,000 square foot climate controlled facility. They hired a team
of outstanding employees and cross-trained them, to be able to provide
their customers with the impeccable service and some of the shortest lead
times in the industry. Currently we occupy over 20,000 square feet with
our employees average years of service exceeding 10 years. Our emphasis on customer service, high quality, innovative manufacturing
techniques and excellent pricing continues to make us a leader in our
industry. We have continually upgraded our equipment to all CNC Cincom
Citizens Swiss automatic lathes and other CNC machining centers. Our commitment
to quality and service has resulted in developing long-term relationships
with our many customers through the years.
In 1985, Russell Burnett began working for the company as a high school
intern. After graduating from San Angelo State University with a major
in computer science, he entered into a joint venture with Al Kager called
American Campro. This company specializes in the production of cams for
Swiss automatic screw machines, serving over 150 Swiss screw machine companies
nationwide. American Campro also complements Kager Industries with a series
of Escomatic screw machines capable of running all types of connectors
and pins or any small parts in high volume. With in-house cam making ability,
we have the fastest turnaround on any Escomatic jobs. American Campro
continues to offer dependable quality and quick turnaround for our customers.
In 1999, Brooks Scheuer joined forces with Al to develop a line of in-house
products.
KNS Precision, Inc. was formed to develop, produce, and market gun
sights and other high quality gun parts for law enforcement, government
and the shooting industry. KNS Precision, Inc. products are currently being
sold through distributors across the United States.
Bob Kager retired in 1992, but is still active in a consulting and advisory
capacity.
Robert Kager (Al's son) is now a partner in Kager Industries.
